Dinner Dance

A great night was had by all at the Shandon Boat Club Dinner Dance held in the Park Inn on Saturday 9th November 2013.   With a turn out of over 100 members aged between 17 and 70 (ish) the room, brightly decorated in the "old light blue" was full to capacity.    The meal was excellent and the service from the Park Inn staff could not be faulted.    We were delighted to welcome Hamish Adams, CEO of Rowing Ireland and his lovely wife, Macaire as our guests.  The ladies young and old were uniformly at their glamourous best and the men tried hard to match.     And what a great band!    Niall O'Sullivan and the lads from White Light really got us rocking.
The highlight of the night was the presentation of momentos to the the members of our three championship winning crews - the men and boys of the Mens Novice Coxed Four, the Mens Junior Quad and the Mens Junior Double accompanied, of course, by the excellent cox of the Novice Four, Meg Holland.   It was great to see the winning trophies on display along with the recently beautifully restored Cork Regatta Aspirants Cup with its sole inscripton "Won by The Shandon Boat Club 1893".
No doubt the first of many (real) Victory Dances!    Shandon Abú.
